All about the Mustang.

Mustang District is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal. It covers an area of 3,573 km² and has a population of 13,452. The headquarters is Jomsom. The district is in Dhawalagiri Zone and part of Gandaki Pradesh in northern Nepal, straddles the Himalayas and extends northward onto the Tibetan Plateau.

Mustang is located in the northernmost part of the country and is extensively rich in natural vegetation. You will be able to see small portion occupied by tropical alpine and coniferous forest here in Mustang. Moreover, lovely apple fields and rhododendron forests make this region more beautiful. Similarly, you will see hillsides completely covered with gorgeous red and pink rhododendrons. Upper Mustang trek offers a chance to explore the thousands of years old monasteries, caves, local tribes, and scenic beauties of the different landscapes.

Mustang’s location at the shadow region of the Annapurna and Nilgiri mountain ranges, provides for a unique environment that resembles a cold desert. It’s high altitude and it proximity to the Tibetian plateau enables heavy wind to blow throughout the day. However, the rocky highlands make the location suitable for rock climbing.
